GIST - The Sunday Edition # 175

It's been awhile since I have done one of these although my offline gratitude practice remains on point.

In no particular order, here are the things I am grateful for today:

1. The blooming flowers. I removed a gazillion weeds from the beds around the new house & the flowers that remain, are starting to bloom. They add some much needed joy. Also, I potted a couple of miniature rose bushes that Chris gifted me for Mother's Day from my children & they are growing so well.

2. Lillie: the shih-tzu who loves everyone of us without ceasing . She never fails to meet each of us at the door when we come home from work & demands snuggles when we are sitting anywhere. Recently learned is that she loves the outside. Her favorite place, besides someone's lap, is a chair on the screened porch in the sunshine where she can keep an eye on the world (and the birds & squirrels)

3. Random compliments.

4. Time to read. The last half of last year & first half of this year were busy & I feel like I didn't really get to read much of anything besides work documents. I've made it for this month though, averaging about a book every day & a half.

5. An upcoming break. 5 glorious days to do what I want when I want without having to set an alarm clock. Friday can not get here fast enough.

Posting every day went by the way side with what can only be termed the illness from hell. All I have managed to do is sleep & go to work. Attempt to eat. Take a shower. Repeat. I *finally* am starting to feel a little more human. I had today off & I was able to get all the laundry done & make some headway into arranging my bedroom. We've lived here for 2 months & it's still not completely done the way I want it.

The heating pad & ibuprofen have been my best friends today. I somehow managed to pull a muscle in my lower back & in my shoulder. (It may or may not have had a lot to do with lifting some boxes incorrectly.)

I go back to work tomorrow for a 7 day stretch & then have next weekend off. Since our inspection happened on Wednesday I no longer have to be concerned with that. At least until after the first of the year. We passed which is all that ultimately matters.

I think I am going to read a few chapters while I wait for the nighttime meds to kick in.

Odds & ends

  • It was brought to my attention a few days ago that my daughter will be graduating high school next year. It's not as if I wasn't already aware of this; after all, I gave birth to the child & know full well how old she is... haha but it really hit home that ohmygoodness she's going to graduate high school soon & this is impossible because she was just born. *slow blink*

  • I have a friend who is like a daughter to me that is going to be having baby any minute now & I can not wait. As much as I am excited, she is completely ready to be done. The last month of pregnancy feels like 10 years.

  • I have another friend whose daughter is getting married this Saturday. Mother of the bride jitters have taken over & she's a bundle of sunshine & stress which is an interesting combination. Also, how are we all old enough now to have grown & almost grown children?

It rained all day long today which made for a rather dreary, depressing day. I'm pretty sure my blah mood had more to do with the weather than anything actually being wrong. Hoping for some sunshine tomorrow.
