and then there was snow

It snowed early Monday morning. I was off work and Sunday and we did a lot of our running around early in the day. Chris cooked supper for me which was a really nice surprise. The schools were canceled for Monday and when I woke up at 3:30, there was no snow and I had a brief moment of "what if it doesn't snow at all?" (like it did earlier in the week when they were predicting us to get some and we got nothing.) I went back to bed at 4:30 and still, no snow. At 6:45 when he got up to go to work: Snow had fallen. And it was beautiful. And it continued to fall all day. Big, fat snowflakes and itsy bitsy snowflakes and medium sized ones and it was still beautiful. And then... it stopped snowing and it started sleeting and everything iced over and it wasn't so beautiful anymore.

Monday, I was also off work so I watched it snow and made a big pot of chili and made chocolate and vanilla covered pretzels and pecans and took a long nap and rearranged my bedroom and went through and removed most of the things that I have been hanging onto for reasons that even I am not clear about. There was a lot of stuff. At some point, the automated system for the school called and school was canceled for today.

This morning, I slept in and had coffee and slept some more and took a shower early so I could wash my hair and have it dry before I had to go to work. Chris drove me to work because he didn't want me to drive home tonight by myself so he's coming to pick me up at 11. I think that's really cool of him. I get to work and discover that several people had called out and several more had spent the night at the hotel next door so they wouldn't have to drive in the weather but could still work and that school was canceled again for tomorrow.

They were supposed to have exams this week so I don't really know what they are going to do about that. I have my vacation coming up (I work every day until Sunday) and then I am going to have my mouth done on Monday barring any unforeseen complications like the school system deciding to make Monday a school day and not the teacher workday it's supposed to be. *sigh* Regardless, either Monday or Tuesday, I am going to have my mouth done and then I have the rest of the week to learn how to talk again and get over the pain that I'm sure I'm going to be in.

So.... it's been slow in here tonight for the most part and my feet are starting to hurt from being on them so much and my text messages have been blowing up for reasons that are baffling me and it's time now for me to go start wrapping up my shift even though I have another hour and forty minutes before it's time to clock out.

Here's hoping the kids go back to school on Thursday or I may have to get my own room at the hotel to escape them....
