GIST - The Sunday Edition # 53

Things I am grateful for today

1. Getting everything taken care of for the truck this past week. It is officially ours now. It's in my name but it will be Nick's truck as soon as he has a license and can  pay for his insurance. I am hoping this will motivate him to do some things.

2. Splitting my days off up for the past couple of weeks so that I don't work incredibly long stretches between days off. Next week I am going to take two in a row so I can actually feel like I was able to accomplish something.

3. Being able to get some stuff paid off. That is a really sweet feeling.

4. The changing leaves and the cooler weather. I'm sure it's only temporary and it will be hot again for a bit before it actually gets and stays cold but it has been lovely to not need the heat or air conditioner.

5. Being loved even when I'm so cranky I can barely stand myself.

GIST - The Sunday Edition # 52

Things I am grateful for today

1. This past week (the 17th) marked my fourth anniversary at my place of employment. I am lucky in that, not only did my boss give me a chance when many people wouldn't (reentering the work force after spending 14 years as a stay at home mom), this is a job I really, truly love. I didn't realize I would be so good at what I do when I first applied here and got hired. I started working here because Chris had shattered his leg and couldn't work and we needed an income only to discover that I enjoy what I am currently doing and I'm pretty damn good at it.

2. I was off yesterday and Elizabeth and I spent most of the day together. She was determined that I wasn't going to sleep until I was ready to get up. Instead, she started peering at me on the bed until I finally said "OK" and got out of it. We went shopping (for shoes and grocery and such) The shoe shopping was mostly fun. As with clothes, Elizabeth has no concept of sizes and just likes to browse until she sees something pretty!!!! at which point she gets annoyed when you tell her that it is either too big or too small for her. Surprisingly we found decent shoes that we could both agree on (after I made it clear that I wasn't spending any of the money on high heeled shoes) without wanting to strangle one another.

3. I got to cook supper last night, something I only get to do 2 nights a week at most. I made tortellini soup and oh my goodness, it was so good. We got garlic bread made by the bakery at the grocery store which I have decided is the best!garlic!bread!ever! I may never buy any  other kind again.

4. I am at work now and it is steady enough that I am not twiddling my thumbs but not so busy that I can't breathe. Which is a good thing because there is no floater tonight so I'm having to do everything myself.

5. I finished the book I have been reading and I am ready to start a new one. I have two choices in my work bag or I could just hold off and read a magazine. I am grateful that over the past few months, I have rediscovered my love my books (and also grateful that Elizabeth has been bitten by the reading bug. To the tune of they had to have 30 AR points this nine weeks and she already has 86.)

GIST - The Sunday Edition # 50

Things I am grateful for today

1. The time I took off earlier this week was very beneficial for me. I got to get a lot of things done. I managed to get some decent sleep and I spent Chris's birthday on Thursday with him doing things he wanted to do (like run the rabbit dogs) and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

2. I am grateful for a job that I genuinely like and am glad to return to after an extended break. The first two nights I was back, I sold out the hotel and people were pleasant and it was just nice to be back and busy. I don't know how I ever managed to stay home for so long. I like being home but if I had to do it all the time like I used to do, I would probably go completely crazy.

3. I had a multiple hour conversation with my sister one of the days of this week. We very rarely get to talk anymore so it was nice to be able to do that without having to watch the clock. Yesterday, she amused me by asking me what to do about a nail in her tire. "Should I pull the nail out?" I will probably always giggle when I think of that from now on.

4. The cooler air. It has been really nice, temperature wise, this past week. The nights are brisk and the early mornings hint at autumn. Also, the leaves are starting to change colors. It's time to get the camera out and start taking some pictures.

5. Elizabeth is off restriction. I came home from work Friday night and Chris had given her back her laptop and her phone and all of her privileges. She went to spend Saturday night with Brittney so I didn't see her before I went to work today. I'll peek in on her when I get home from work tonight.
