7 Quick Takes # 10

This was not the most spectacular of weeks for me. I was entirely too exhausted, entirely too frustrated. Throw some PMS symptoms in there and basically, I was a complete b*tch for the week. It's a wonder anyone can stand to be around me.
I typically avoid the news because most all of it is always bad and this week was really no exception except that I find myself transfixed by the missing Malaysian flight. It is inconceivable to me that, in this day and age, a plane can just "disappear" like that. Plus, all the information and misinformation coming out of that region is mind-boggling. It makes me sad and I continue to keep all the passengers and their loved ones in my prayers.
My mother is having surgery next week and for some reason that I can't explain, this is worrying me a great deal. It is supposed to be an outpatient procedure. I am hoping that all goes well and she will be on the mend in no time. (The fact that she told us ahead of time that she is scheduled for surgery means she is worried about it too because her normal is not tell anyone until after the fact.)
I have a few days off coming off that each have a workday in between so the next week or so is going to go something like this: work, work, off, work, off, off, work. It's not a bad schedule but for some reason just thinking about it is making me tired. I think I need a vacation.
Everyone here has been sick on and off and I have a lingering cough from a cold that I had almost 3 weeks ago. I am more than ready for the cough and the cold weather to go away. According to the calendar, spring is in a few days. I have a sneaking suspicion that we will see another ice storm after the official start of spring. I am truly ready for some warmer weather.
We (Chris and I) had blood drawn for clinical health assessments through his work on Wednesday and while mine went rather smoothly, his did not. The lady couldn't find the vein in his arm so she poked and prodded around in both of his arms with the needle. He was not the slightest bit pleased about this. I think only decency kept him from saying a few choice phrases about the lack of competence from the lady they had drawing the blood. (A different woman did mine. They should have let her do everyone's.)
As per usual, I managed to schedule all of my off days on days that it is supposed to rain. Apparently, I need to start paying more attention to the weather forecast when I am making the schedule. Although to be fair, it is supposed to rain pretty much every day this coming week so I probably couldn't have won in the sunshiney day department
