7 Quick Takes # 20

I still haven't saved the template with the new logo on it yet. I'm notoriously bad for remembering until I actually open up the blog and then it's not on the device that I am using to write the entry. Maybe the next time....

The new medicine the doctor prescribed for me was wonderful for the first two days and then on the third day, I got a sour stomach. And on day four, I projectile vomited upon waking up and it was as horrendous as you might imagine. I fell asleep on the couch after cleaning me and everything else up and then went to work for 8 hours that were among some of the most miserable hours of my life.

Thursday and today were my days off for the week. I felt weak on Thursday and while I feel better today, I'm seriously thinking that maybe I shouldn't give the medicine another try because while they say the side effects usually diminish within a month, I can not go a month feeling like I felt from Tuesday until Thursday evening. It's not even possible. Work makes it partially impossible and wanting to have a productive life rounds out the reason.

Did I mention I hadn't felt that bad in a really long time? I did, huh?

I have to work for the next 8 days in a row before my day off. I'm really going to have to engage in a conversation with the woman who makes the schedule. (Says the woman who makes the schedule.) I did it on purpose sort of because I wanted Sunday and Monday off next week and that was the only way to schedule it for myself.

I got a lot done today. Elizabeth went to my sister's house for the night and tomorrow, she and Codi will spend the night at our house. I love those little girls. They are my favorite little ladies.

Hoping for a wonderful weekend and a good next week. I'm doing everything I can to make it that way.

GIST - The Sunday Edition # 100

Things I am grateful for today

1. Our health insurance cards came in last week and I saw the doctor on Thursday. I have to go see her again this Thursday to discuss the results of my blood work and while that has me a bit anxious, I am grateful that I took the time to go and to get back on the right track.

2. I remembered to eat breakfast today. This is big for me because I usually don't eat until supper time.

3. In one hour and six minutes, I will officially be on vacation until the 27th of January. I am really looking forward to 8 whole days off in a row with no real plans until the weekend. I have a lot of things I want to do but I will be perfectly satisfied if I don't do much more than cook and read all the books.

4. I have talked to my sister twice this week.

5. Hijinx. She bats at my toes whenever I am sitting on the sofa wiggling them and she hides in the chair and bats at me from the slats whenever I walk by. She amuses me and that's a good thing.

7 Quick Takes # 19

7 Quick Takes

I haven't yet managed to save the graphic for Kelly's new logo but I did remember to change the link at the bottom. For my foggy brain, this is remarkable. Maybe by the middle of the year, I'll remember to add the logo.

I had a doctor's appointment yesterday where they drew blood for labs. Tonight, at 6pm, they call me to tell me the doctor wants to schedule an appointment to go over my lab results. I know they don't call if something isn't wrong usually so I am on pins and needles and my appointment to discuss the results isn't until next Thursday. I am going to express my dismay about their incredibly poor timing on making the phone call and also ask that all future lab tests be done before my appointment so she can have the results and we can discuss them at my appointment instead of having to make 2 separate appointments (which means 2 separate copays.)

I've been mostly posting pictures while I give myself time to get some things done. I have a vacation coming up where I intend to catch up on a lot of things and rest.

Elizabeth, Nick and I seem to be trading an illness back and forth between us. One or all of us will feel better for a day or two and then it's back to the muscles aching and low grade temperatures. I really will be glad when we banish whatever it is ailing us for good. Being sick is horrible. Being sick and still having to go to work and deal with a lot of people is horrible too.

Nick's 20th birthday is next Tuesday. It doesn't seem possible to me that he is already that old.

I have plans to do a lot of cooking next week so I have been looking at a lot of recipe sites trying to find something that looks exciting but also doesn't take a gazillion hours to prep and cook.

And my mother has taken to Facebook and seems to be learning her way around quite rapidly. She's definitely learned how to like and comment and in a message on Messenger the other day, she included a sticker and I don't even know her She seems to be enjoying it for the most part. Which is a great thing.

GIST - The Sunday Edition # 99

Things I am grateful for today

1. Chris asked me to go run errands with him today and I really wanted to just stay home in my pajamas but I went and I'm glad I did.

2. the new washing machine. It's so quiet you barely know it's running.

3. Heat. It's been really cold here the past few days and I am grateful for warmth.

4. Being loved.

5. One full week until my vacation. I'm looking forward to it.

us - March 2011

He doesn't like to take pictures so the fact that he voluntarily took this one with me makes it all that more special.

Thursday, January 8, 2015

I've been lucky to have not lost very many friends to death in my lifetime so I'm having a really difficult time with this loss. It seems surreal that on Saturday morning, we had a conversation and by Saturday evening, you were gone. I won't ever get to talk to you again and while we didn't have much that hadn't ever been said after 20 plus years of friendship, it still feels incomplete. I miss you.

*I've posted every day in January so far and plan to continue for the entire month. I'm thinking most of it will probably be pictures which I've never done much of before. Words, though, may be scarce. This loss is really affecting me in ways that I never imagined and can't really put into words.*

GIST - The Sunday Edition # 98

Things I am grateful for today

1. A new year has started. May 2015 be more kind than 2014 turned out.

2. I have the capacity to let drama roll off my back. Most grateful for this because there is some drama and people tried to pull me into it and I have firmly refused to become involved.

3. busy nights

4. A nice Saturday with my baby. We went to Orangeburg to the Grand National and had dinner in Whiteville and spent the day together and had a great time.

5. 15 days until vacation.
