It's almost the end of an 8 day work streak. I'm off Sunday and Monday and you probably have never seen someone who is as eagerly counting down the hours than me. Sometimes terrible schedules can't be helped and this was really one of those times but it doesn't stop me from complaining about it.
I still haven't worked up the nerve to re-try the medicine that made me so violently ill last week. I'm actually really scared to try it again but I think I probably should give it one more chance. I'm not a fan of being sick like that so I may debate it out some more before I make a decision.
Beth and I have a "date" on Sunday to go dress shopping for her homecoming dance. I have all the feelings about her going to a dance and grown up dresses and the fact that she desperately wants a pair of high heels to wear to said dance. When did she get old enough for all of this?
I'm not sure where I stand on the current tempest about Brian Williams. I think the man is a brilliant journalist and I believe, over time, you can get confused about events that happened in the past. I get confused about events that happened a long time ago and I'm not in a position where lots of events have happened. Does that make sense? As a journalist who has covered an extraordinary amount of news, I can see how events might meld together. I don't think he should be fired or demoted from his position because he's human too but I can see why other people might be thinking he should. He's the face of NBC News for all intents and purposes and people are questioning his integrity. Ironically enough, most of those calling for his head probably have a few of their own skeletons they don't want aired. It makes me sad that all those years of hard work are going to be boiled down to this one instance.
The weekend is supposed to be a bit warmer than this week has been. I'm looking forward to some warmer days. Spring can't get here fast enough for me.
We are going to Walker Days at the end of this month. It's a trip I am looking forward to taking. We go to Walker Days and then to Uwharrie Mountain. I love Uwharrie Mountain. It's one of my favorite places and if I could move there, I would.
I have several books on my to read list. Right now, I'm reading The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd. I have mixed feelings about this book which is probably why I've been reading only a few pages at the time for the past week. At this rate it will take me until March to finish it.
